Liebe Leser:innen
Am 1. April wachte ich an einem verregneten Murtensee im Schweizer Kanton Fribourg auf und erinnerte mich an einen Traum, in dem ich mit dem WordPress-Mitbegründer Matt Mullenweg über Web3-Technologien diskutierte. Es war nur ein kurzes Gespräch, wahrscheinlich auf einem Flagship WordCamp Event, aber ich war sehr aufgeregt, da ich noch nie persönlich mit ihm gesprochen hatte und er dem Thema gegenüber aufgeschlossen zu sein schien.
WordCamp Switzerland
Natürlich ist er das, denn sein Unternehmen Automattic stellte 2022 einen Web3 Lead ein, Dave Lockie, der letztes Jahr auf dem WordCamp Europe über WordPress und Web3-Trends sprach. Am 3. WordCamp Switzerland hatte ich persönlich das Privileg der Schweizer WordPress Community das Thema Web3 näher zu bringen. Zudem hat Openstream die erste Schweizer Wapuu NFT Kollektion auf OpenSea bzw. der Polygon Blockchain veröffentlicht.
In unserem Blog habe ich meinen WordCamp Vortrag und die Konferenz zusammengefasst. Wir haben zahlreiche weitere Web3 Themen in unserem Blog aufgegriffen, welche ebenfalls in diesem Newsletter enthalten sind, wie z.B. wie man Kryptobriefmarken der Schweizerischen Post in sein Web3 Wallet überträgt.
ShopTalk Europe
Es gibt ein gewisses Gefühl der Nostalgie, wenn man zum ersten Mal an der ShopTalk Europe in Barcelona teilnimmt – es ist, als würde man sich in die Zeit der K5 Future Retail Konferenz in Berlin 2017 oder früherer Adobe Commerce (Magento) Veranstaltungen zurückversetzt fühlen. Die Aufregung, die Energie, die Vorfreude darauf, was die Zukunft für den E-Commerce bereithält.
Es ist ein Gefühl, das schwer in Worte zu fassen ist, aber es ist eines, das einen überschwemmt, wenn man durch die riesige und wunderschön dekorierte Konferenzhalle geht und die neuesten Trends und Innovationen in Keynotes, Podiumsdiskussionen, Interviews und Workshops auf fünf bunt gestalteten Bühnen sowie in verschiedenen vorab arrangierten und zufälligen Einzelgesprächen erlebt. Es ist ein Rückblick auf eine Zeit, in der alles möglich schien und die Zukunft vielversprechend war. Bei all dem Hype um künstliche Intelligenz, der derzeit umgeht, fühlt es sich jedoch genau so an: Mit der Demokratisierung von «Super»-Intelligenz, scheint alles möglich zu sein. Lasst uns also weiterhin den E-Commerce neu denken und erfinden!
Die Vorteile des Einsatzes von künstlicher Intelligenz auch in kleinen und mittleren Unternehmen (KMU) können nicht hoch genug eingeschätzt werden. Insgesamt haben diese Technologien das Potenzial, die Arbeitsweise von KMUs zu verändern und sie in die Lage zu versetzen, effektiver zu konkurrieren und ihr Geschäft auszubauen. Durch den Einsatz von künstlicher Intelligenz in den Bereichen Personalisierung, Optimierung der Lieferkette, Kundenservice und Produktentwicklung können KMUs ein neues Mass an Effizienz, Rentabilität und Erfolg erreichen.

Navigating the AGI Wonderland
On February 24, 2023, OpenAI’s CEO published an article about artificial general intelligence (AGI), i.e. AI systems that are generally smarter than humans. It seems that not only Elon Musk, but also Sam Altman is worrying about the dangers of artificial intelligence. It’s been a wild AI ride this year and we at Openstream are mostly very excited about its new possibilities, but it is also necessary to contemplate the dangers it might pose to humanity.

Google oder Matomo Analytics?
Weder Google Analytics 4 noch Matomo Analytics nutzen Fingerprinting, eine Methode des Trackings, bei der Informationen über den Browser und das Gerät von Nutzerinnen und Nutzern gesammelt wird, um ein eindeutiges Profil zu erstellen.
Ab dem 1. September 2023 gelten in der Schweiz das revidierte Datenschutzgesetz (DSG) und die neuen Ausführungsbestimmungen in der Datenschutzverordnung (DSV) sowie der Verordnung über Datenschutzzertifizierungen (VDSZ). Das aktualisierte DSG und die zugehörigen Verordnungen sorgen für einen besseren Schutz persönlicher Daten, indem sie den Datenschutz an technologische Entwicklungen anpassen, die Selbstbestimmung über persönliche Daten stärken und die Transparenz bei der Beschaffung von Personendaten erhöhen.

Suchmaschinenoptimierte Texte sind das A und O
Suchmaschinenoptimierte Texte sind heute so wichtig wie vor 50 Jahren der Kartenatlas bei einer Autoreise. Ohne optimierte Texte wird die Webseite nicht gefunden beziehungsweise angezeigt. Der Grund dafür ist, dass die Suchmaschinen die Seite nicht richtig verstehen können und dadurch das Ranking entsprechend schlecht eingestuft wird. Das bedeutet dann, dass der potenzielle Kunde zwar nach den „richtigen“ Keywords sucht, die vom Unternehmen definiert wurden, aber aufgrund der fehlenden Optimierung die Webseite nicht angezeigt bekommt.

Suchmaschinenoptimierung (SEO) von Bildern? Viele Unternehmen behandeln die Optimierung von verwendeten Bildern auf ihrer Webseite eher stiefmütterlich. SEO-optimierte Textinhalten geniessen hingegen schon länger die notwendige Aufmerksamkeit. Allerdings tragen beide Themen, gute Texte und optimierte Bilder, massgeblich zur Verbesserung der Onlinepräsenz bei.
Je besser eine Webseite suchmaschinenoptimiert ist, desto besser fällt das Ranking in Bezug auf die Keywords aus. Das bedeutet, es kann eine höhere Platzierung bei den Suchergebnissen erreicht werden. Das wiederum führt automatisch zu mehr Traffic auf der Webseite. Ist auf der Seite dann auch noch eine hervorragende User Experience zu erwarten, kann dies schnell zu neuen Kunden beziehungsweise Lesern oder Benutzern führen.

Unleashing Unseen Human Productivity
Being a meetup and event organizer myself, I was really impressed by the quality of the organization, video live streaming and speakers of the Ethereum Zürich hackathon and conference at the UZH (University of Zürich) Blockchain Center. From April 14 through 16, the Institute of Cryptoanarchy, Duct Tape Production and UZH (University of Zürich) Blockchain Center brought together the Ethereum community to the most crypto friendly country and the cradle of blockchain research. Zürich was one of the last European cities that hasn’t had a major Ethereum focused event despite its clear importance and the fact it’s a home to numerous blockchain and Ethereum startups.
NFTs in Art and Finance
End of February 2023, the Zürich Crypto Mondays community met to explore the endless possibilities of NFTs and how they impact the world of art and finance. This is my belated recap, since I’ve been very busy working on our own first NFT art project which I presented at WordCamp Switzerland at the beginning of April as an experiment to introduce the Swiss WordPress community to web3 technology and, of course, to learn more about NFT art myself.
Swiss Crypto Stamp in Wallet übertragen
Wenn du eine Swiss Crypto Stamp 2.0 in einer Postfiliale oder im Online Shop der Schweizerischen Post erworben hast und diese digital «verwenden» möchtest, sprich in deinem Crypto Wallet oder deinem OpenSea Account sichtbar machen willst, kannst du sie relativ einfach von der physischen Briefmarke, welche auch ein Paper Wallet ist, übertragen. Sinngemäss wird das auch für die Anfang Mai 2023 erscheinende Swiss Crypto Stamp 3.0 gelten.

MetaMask Learn
In the spirit of curiosity and learning, ConsenSys recently launched MetaMask Learn. According to Megan Dias, it’s been a labor of love, and one she hopes inspires the curious 力 in all who come across it.
MetaMask Learn is a free-to-use educational platform available in 10 languages for anyone interested in learning about web3. Through engaging lessons and interactive simulations, it helps you understand what web3 is, why it matters, and how to get started.
Crypto Art in Winterthur
In the evening on April 26, Winterthur’s Caribbean Pearl rooftop bar and club hosted the Swiss NFT Association’s Crypto Art and Virtual Reality Light Festival with around 50 art and web3 enthusiasts. The event was also live streamed in the Metaverse. We attended in person and spent an inspiring evening, although the location’s ventilation system made it almost impossible to understand the speakers before the panel discussion.
Ethereum in 2023
End of 2022, one of the main architects of the web’s decentralized future, Vitalik Buterin, joined BANKLESS podcast hosts Ryan Sean Adams and David Hoffman to unpack his essay what excites him in the Ethereum ecosystem and his thoughts around why crypto villains are getting worse, what Ethereum’s most scalable use case is, why he plans to say “Ethereum” rather than “crypto” in 2023, how Ethereum solves the big bad identity problem, and why he thinks “simple DeFi good, complicated DeFi bad”.
From Vinyl to NFTs
Sound.xyz is creating a platform for a more collaborative music movement, built on web3 technology and web3 values. Users support the artists they love directly and stake their claim on being there before everyone else.
Putting out a new track should be an event, not an afterthought. Sound gives artists the chance to debut new music as a set of NFTs. Each edition of the NFT is numbered uniquely, so listeners can showcase their early support. On March 24, 2023, Brainstorm Force released Spectra One 0.0.3, a beautiful and modern WordPress theme built with the Full Site Editing (FSE) feature. Latest version 0.05 was released 2 weeks ago. Brainstorm Force also develops the 2021 and 2022 WP Awards winner theme Astra Pro.

WooCommerce 7.5.1 Fix Release
WooCommerce 7.5.1 was released on March 21st, 2023 and is now available for download.
- WooCommerce has addressed an issue where during upgrade, dbDelta may have caused an unnecessary
ALTERto be executed. - They’ve fixed an issue with variable product quantity selectors.
- This release bumps the version of WooCommerce Blocks included in WooCommerce to 9.6.6.
- Version 9.6.6 of WooCommerce Blocks includes a fix to a 404 error that was introduced in WooCommerce 7.5.0. While the error didn’t break anything user-facing, it had the potential to cause 404 error logs to increase in size.
WooCommerce 7.6 Release
On April 13, 2023 WooCommerce 7.6.0 was released which should be backwards compatible with the previous version. This release contains:
- 485 commits from 47 contributors in WooCommerce Core.
- 188 commits from 21 contributors in WooCommerce Blocks.
WooCommerce 7.6.1 Fix Release
WooCommerce 7.6.1 was released on April 26, 2023. It introduces a few fixes for issues that were introduced in the 7.6.0 release.
WooCommerce 7.7 Release
WooCommerce 7.7.0 was released on May 10, 2023. This release should be backwards compatible with the previous version, it contains:
- 448 commits from 55 contributors in WooCommerce Core.
- 19 commits from 10 contributors in WooCommerce Blocks.
As always, it is recommend to create a backup of your site and making sure that your theme and any other plugins are compatible before updating.
