Gestern veranstaltete die Magento Association die erste Connect Conference. Die VeranstalterInnen setzten dabei auf die Beta Plattform Hopin, welche sich aktuell noch in der Early Access Phase befindet. Allerdings wurden bereits über 1000 Events mit Hopin ausgerichtet und über 10’000 Interessierte befinden sich auf der Warteliste.
Magento Evangelist Ben Marks eröffnete die Konferenz, gefolgt von Adobe Commerce Vize Jason Woosley. Während der ganzen Konferenz konnte man sich per Zufallsgenerator über das Video Networking Feature von Hopin jeweils 5 Minuten mit anderen TeilnehmerInnen austauschen. Fast wie auf den Gängen einer physischen Konferenz.
Weitere interessante Events im Juni haben wir euch am Ende dieses Newsletters zusammen gestellt. Zwei davon finden möglicherweise sogar physisch statt.

Ende Juni endet der offizielle Support für Magento 1. Wir werden unsere Kunden, die nicht kurzfristig auf Magento 2 oder WooCommerce migrieren über das OpenMage LTS (Long Term Support) Projekt die Möglichkeit geben, allfällige Sicherheits und Bug Fix Updates zu beziehen. Wir hatten in unserem Blog bereits im Mai 2019 die Frage gestellt, ob Magento 1 tot sei. Um die Antwort vorweg zu nehmen und diese Einleitung nicht so negativ enden zu lassen: nein, Magento 1 ist nicht tot, auch wenn die Code Basis schon etwas älter ist.

Der Detailhandel war im Laufe der Jahre vielen Bedrohungen ausgesetzt, die sich während der Coronavirus-Pandemie noch verschärft haben. Da die physischen Geschäfte geschlossen wurden, ist der digitale Handel zu einer Lebensader für den Einzelhandel geworden. Und da die Verbraucher zunehmend online einkaufen, suchen sie nicht nur nach dem Notwendigsten, sondern auch nach Dingen wie Spielzeug, Bekleidung und Haushaltswaren. Dies ist zwar eine Gelegenheit für Unternehmen, die Schwierigkeiten haben, wieder mit den Verbrauchern in Kontakt zu treten, aber viele können es sich nicht leisten, dies im grossen Massstab zu tun.

Professioneller Webshop für Selbständige und KMU
Die Swisscom warb im April mit einem Sonderangebot für deren auf Ecwid basierenden Webshop-Lösung. KMUs sollen damit die Möglichkeit haben, schnell und unkompliziert online zu verkaufen. Wer sich bis Ende Mai für den Dienst entscheidet, kann ihn während vier Monaten uneingeschränkt nutzen. Danach betragen die monatlichen Kosten CHF 64.90.

culturestreams.org ein Projekt des #WirVsVirus Hackathons
Ende März fand mit über 42’000 TeilnehmerInnen der weltweit grösste Hackathon statt und bot die Möglichkeit online in Teams, dynamisch und kooperativ an Lösungen zu Herausforderungen der Corona Krise mitzuarbeiten. Die Initiatoren waren in Kooperation mit der Bundesregierung Deutschland unermüdlich zu Gange um diese unfassbar grosse Beteiligung zu handeln.

WordPress Query Monitor
Query Monitor is the developer tools panel for WordPress. It enables debugging of database queries, PHP errors, hooks and actions, block editor blocks, enqueued scripts and stylesheets, HTTP API calls, and more.
It includes some advanced features such as debugging of Ajax calls, REST API calls, and user capability checks. It includes the ability to narrow down much of its output by plugin or theme, allowing you to quickly determine poorly performing plugins, themes, or functions.

WordPress 5.4 “Adderly”
WordPress 5.4 “Adderly”, a new major update of WordPress was released on March 31. This version is named after Nat Adderly, an American jazz trumpeter. With this update, WordPress includes more features in the block editor to make posts and pages more vivid.
WordPress 5.4.1 Security Update
WordPress 5.4.1 was released on April 29 and features 17 bug fixes in addition to 7 security fixes. This update should be installed as soon as possible to fix the open vulnerabilities. All WordPress versions since 3.7 have an update available to fix the vulnerabilities.
WooCommerce 4.1
WooCommerce 4.1 is the latest major update with new features. This release contains lots of performance improvements and stability fixes besides the two new features.
WooCommerce 4.1.1 Security and Fix Update
On May 20 WooCommerce released a new update to fix some small security vulnerabilities and found bugs.
- Added notice about public uploads directory.
- Disallow directory listing in woocommerce_uploads when “Redirect only” is the selected download method.
- Added correct handling of nonces to database update notice dismissal.
- Updated WooCommerce admin version to 1.1.3 and Action Scheduler to 3.1.6.
- Add prop
isEnabledand a function to dynamically enable tracks.
Magento 2.3.5 Update
Magento 2.3.5 was released on April 29 and includes over 180 functional fixes and over 25 security enhancements. Magento enhanced the userexperience and the security in this update. For more information on the installation of this update visit devdocs.magento.com.

Finalement, un meetup WordPress à Neuchâtel! Ce groupe s’adresse à tous ceux qui adorent utiliser WordPress, veulent en apprendre davantage sur WordPress, ou pensent simplement à débuter leur site sous WordPress. L’objectif de ce groupe est de proposer un évènement mensuel à Neuchâtel, pour échanger nos bonnes pratiques, nouveautés, obtenir de l’aide et tout ce qui peut-être utile à propos de notre CMS préféré.

Wegen der aktuellen Corona Virus Situation wurde das WordPress Meetup in St. Gallen auf Juni verschoben. Die Organisatoren hoffen, dass am neuen Termin keine behördlichen Vorgaben im Wege stehen werden.
Das Thema für den ersten Teil des Abends ist «WooCommerce &
E-Commerce». Wie baue ich einen Webshop in WordPress? Was sind die Vor- und Nachteile von WooCommerce, dem bekanntesten E-Commerce Plugin? Und was sind Alternativen zu WooCommerce?
Der zweite Teil des Abends steht wiederum im Zeichen des lockeren Austauschs zu den Themen und Fragen, die den Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmern unter den Nägeln brennen.
