Are we Humans, Dancers or Bots?

When we think about the future of the internet, I would guess that 90% of content will no longer be generated by humans. It will be generated by bots.

Worldcoin

Worldcoin is designed to become the world’s largest privacy-preserving human identity and financial network, giving ownership to everyone. Worldcoin aims to provide universal access to the global economy no matter your country or background, establishing a place for all of us to benefit in the age of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

World App

Worldcoin is an open-source protocol, supported by a global community of developers, individuals, economists and technologists committed to expanding participation in, and access to, the global economy. The Worldcoin Foundation is the steward, and will support and grow the Worldcoin community until it becomes self-sufficient. Tools for Humanity helped launch Worldcoin, and currently serve as advisors to the Foundation and operators of the World App.

Today, the World App has passed 10 million users. The app, which was first introduced in May 2023, had been downloaded 4 million times by November of that same year. The growth to 10 million total users in over 160 countries, with 2 million daily active users and more than 70 million total wallet transactions, represents a significant increase in usage.

Worldcoin App

In recent weeks, World App has been averaging 7.1 transactions per second—enough to position it squarely among the top self-custodial wallets in the world according to CoinGecko.

World ID

Tools for Humanity co-founder Alex Blania, announced end of last month, that the Orb software is now open source. The hardware, AI pipeline, core protocol, and SDK are also already open. Orb data is now self-custodial, to give people full control over how to use it and delete it. This is similar to the existing self-custodial setup for wallet and World ID private keys.

Security

Two independent firms — Trail of Bits and Reilabs — published audits and formal verifications of Worldcoin systems. These are additional to the privacy and security audits published recently by Nethermind and Least Authority. Additional steps have been taken to ensure only individuals over the age of 18 are able to verify at an Orb.

This includes redundant age confirmations in the app, verbal confirmation from Operators, and signage at locations. More technical solutions will follow. Lastly, the new bounty program provides a way for experts to continuously contribute to the integrity of the network.

Universal Proof of Personhood

Worldcoin is a system designed to verify human users in the age of AI. It consists of two parts: World ID, a digital passport users can use to prove they are human, and Worldcoin, a digital currency users receive by verifying their World ID. Worldcoin uses a device called Orb to verify users› biometric data and prioritizes user privacy by separating biometric data from World ID and using disposable IDs. Worldcoin is decentralized and aims to benefit society as a whole.

In conclusion, Worldcoin is a system that verifies users’ humanity through biometrics and grants them digital currency. Do you also think that something like Worldcoin is a necessary tool in the age of AI and can benefit society by being a public good?
