In meinem persönlichen Blog habe ich auch einen kleinen Artikel dazu geschrieben und ein paar Bilder veröffentlicht.

Googles neue Shopping-Seite
Im Juni 2018 hatten wir im Openstream Blog darüber berichtet, dass die Lebensmittel der Supermarktkette Carrefour ab 2019 in Frankreich direkt über Google-Home, den Google-Assistenten und Google-Shopping gekauft werden können. Google hatte dazu eine entsprechende Kooperation mit dem Einzelhändler vereinbart. Es war das erste Mal, dass in Frankreich Lebensmittel über die Google-Plattformen angeboten wurden.

CMS-Rangliste 2019
Als die Schweizer Hosting Firma Cyon 2013 mit ihrem inzwischen fast schon traditionellen CMS-Ranking begann, war Joomla! dem Aufsteiger WordPress noch ziemlich genau 10 Prozent voraus. Ein Jahr später sah alles bereits ganz anders aus und änderte sich auch 2015, 2016 oder 2017 nicht mehr: WordPress schwang sich zum Spitzenreiter auf und baut seinen Vorsprung seither kontinuierlich weiter aus.
Verizon verkauft Tumblr an Automattic
Die NZZ berichtete, dass die Blog-Plattform Tumblr einen neuen Besitzer bekomme. Automattic, die Firma von WordPress Co-Founder Matt Mullenweg, kauft Tumblr vom amerikanischen Telekommunikationskonzern Verizon. Matt wolle Tumblr unverändert fortführen, sagte er dem «Wall Street Journal», was wir aber irgendwie nicht so ganz glauben können, da es hier möglicherweise darum geht, den Marktanteil von WordPress weiter zu vergrössern.

Cate Huston is the Head of Developer Experience at Automattic. She embodies the ethos of the modern digital nomad, and maintains a newsletter chronicling her travels. Though she calls the Irish city of Cork home, you’re as likely to find her in any other corner of the world. Yet Cate’s no lone wolf. Modern communication tools have made it possible for Cate to help manage and stay in constant contact with large teams. She’s deeply embedded within the Automattic organization, helping to define how its many engineers engage with stakeholders around the company — and with each other.

WooCommerce 3.7
The new major version update for WooCommerce brings some new features and enhancements to our favorite ecommerce plugin for WordPress. Version 3.7 was released on August 12 and contains over 1200 (!) commits.
OpenMage LTS
The OpenMage LTS (Long Term Support) repository aims to be a dependably patched archive of the Magento 1 CE (Community Edition) core releases maintained by Lee Saferite, David Robinson, Daniel Fahlke and the Magento community of agencies, freelancers and module vendors.
These sources should stay as compatible to the sources released by Magento as possible. Pull requests with unofficial bug fixes and security patches from the community are definitely encouraged. It’s the project’s goal to apply patches available from Magento as quickly as possible, but these do not always cover all known issues.
WP-CLI 2.3.0
36 contributors have collaborated to get 129 pull requests merged. This version is mainly meant to finally get a few bug fixes out there that were not critical enough to warrant an immediate hotfix release but are nice to have eradicated at one point, nevertheless.
- New command to fix image orientation
- You can now skip tables using wildcards
- Add config settings to the end of the file
- Optimized vagrant support

Native Lazy-Loading for the Web
Support for natively lazy-loading images and iframes is coming to the web! Starting with Google Chrome 76, you’ll be able to use the new loading attribute to lazy-load resources without the need to write custom lazy-loading code or use a separate JavaScript library.
