Accelerating Gender Parity

On the occasion of International Women’s Day MageTalk hosts Kalen Jordan and Phil Jackson spoke to Magento community manager Sherrie Rohde and Magento product manager Tanya Soroka about gender diversity and the role women play in the Magento community and in general.

Sherrie shares some insights as to why you should hire women not only for superficial gender parity, but because your company might also be more profitable. Here’s the link to highly recommended episode 121.

Unfortunately, gender discrimination is all too common in tech. In the days following the publication of Susan Fowler’s blog post about Uber, the internet exploded with tweets and blog posts from other women in tech.

International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

As far as I can tell, Magento Inc. is taking an active role in that acceleration and Openstream tries to as well.
