Magento Developers Paradise 2012

Magento Developers Paradise 2012 IbizaLots of code and fun in the sun is the motto of the Magento Developers Paradise which is taking place already for the third time on the beautiful Canary island of Ibiza from today September 25 through 27. For the first time Tim, Openstream’s senior Magento developer, and myself are taking part in order to get the latest updates directly from Magento and X.commerce core developers as well as other developers from Magento partners and agencies around the world.

This year 125 developers from over 20 countries are gathering to hear about a wide range of topics such as

  • writing Magento extensions to interact with the X.commerce Fabric
  • new Magento 2 backend features
  • building a booking platform with Magento
  • 101 hidden Magento secrets
  • feedback on 4 years of Magento hosting
  • high quality Magento development
  • dynamic and static code analysis
  • and many more

In addition to those predefined presentations there will be a BarCamp and Magento localization hack sessions. Andreas von Studnitz will present the Magento German Setup extension, which enables German, Swiss and Austrian store owners to easily pre-configure their stores with country-specific tax and locale settings. Ivan Chepurnyi just explained that in Magento 2 it will be possible to define inheritance in locales which will be very handy for the DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) region.

Magneto or Magento Conference?
Although this comic suggests otherwise, I personally met 3 Inchooers at the beach in Ibiza

Updated on Nov 6: At the barcamp Tim gave a small presentation about our Open Social Media Monitoring platform which we also have developed a Magento extension for. Unfortunately, the beamer projection is pretty useless, but it will still give a a quick overview of the Magento extension.

I have been live tweeting from the event and selected some of the best tweets in the next section of this blog posting. More event photos can be found on our Facebook page.
